Where to Eat in Poblacion: Kite Kebab Bar
For quite sometime now, Poblacion has gained popularity as the hip place to be in Makati. Poblacion, once embedded in the city’s controversial Red Light District, is now a bustling food hub filled with ultracool bars, drinking joints, and hole-in-the-wall restaurants.
I first got introduced to the area when we bar hopped for the AXE You Project early last year. And since then, I couldn’t pass up on any invitation for get togethers in the area. So to cap off 2018, Karlaroundtheworld and I decided to do a mini staycation in City Garden Hotel Makati. And since we were in the foodie neighborhood already, why not sample new bites in Poblacion too right? We were craving for something exotic that weekend so we decided to give Kite Kebab Bar a try. Check out all our delicious Mediterranean eats at Kite Poblacion!
Hummus (Php 175.00) – HTD Favorite!
What’s a Persian meal without hummus, right? We loved how generous Kite Kebab Bar’s Hummus, size-wise. The flavor was pretty straightforward and tasty. While the ground meat was a nice and savory addition to the pair (add-on). It also comes with one pita classic or add Php 10.00 to make it wheat!
Fatoush (Php 175.00)
While I love feasting on Mediterranean food, this is the first time I’ve eaten Fatoush. It’s basically a Middle Eastern salad with zesty lime, vinaigrette, sumac, and crunchy pita chips. I enjoyed how refreshingly light yet tasty the fatoush was. It was indeed zesty, sour, with a crunchy bite. I also appreciate the fact that the greens were minced, making it easier to munch on.
Biryani Rice (Php 75.00)
Being rice lovers, we sure couldn’t pass up on the rice – especially since it’s biryani. The one from Kite Kebab Bar was simple yet flavorful. The perfect compliment to the meaty, savory bites up ahead!
Chicken Kebab – Spicy Herb (Php 139.00)
While not the juiciest we’ve had thus far, Kite’s Spicy Herb Chicken Kebab was still a delight. It was well-seasoned, with just the right amount of kick to whet your appetite.
Shrimp Tandoori (Php 199.00) – HTD Favorite!
I loved Kite Kebab’s Shrimp Tandoori the best. They were fresh, well-marinated, and all around crave-worthy. Just wished they were a little bigger, given the price.
Ox Tongue – Lengua (Php 125.00)
Up for something rather exotic? Good! Savor on Kite Kebab Bar’s Ox Tongue or Lengua. Tender cubes of marinated ox tongue, grilled to a juicy perfection! Want some grilled tomatoes and onions with your kebabs? You can add on for Php 25.00 per order (2 pieces each).
Yogurt Shake (Php 99.00)
A drink and dessert in one, the Yogurt Shake from Kite Kebab Bar is a must try. Healthy (hello probiotics), milky, and mildly sweet – the perfect meal-ender to cleanse the palate.
All in all, both Karla and I enjoyed our dinner at Kite – straightforward, flavorful, value-for-money. I’d totally recommend this ambient spot for pre or post-bar cravings when in Poblacion.
