Where to Eat in Tagaytay: Balinsasayaw Restaurant and Cabanas Tagaytay (Lalaan, Uno)
One thing that I love most about driving up to Tagaytay is the myriad of food options in the area. Although much is to be said about the dining scene in Metro Manila itself, where to eat in Tagaytay takes dining to a different level. Think concept cafes and restaurants cradled in lush environments or overlooking the picturesque Taal Volcano. One restaurant I’ve enjoyed eating in recently is Balinsasayaw Tagaytay Lalaan Uno. A homey place offering delicious Filipino meals set in a rustic probinsya-like ambiance. Check out why you too should eat at this kubo-style food spot when in Tagaytay!
Ambiance at Balinsasayaw Tagayatay
We drove up to Tagayatay early in the morning, dozed off in the car and was pleasantly surprised to what I woke up to. An expansive place nestled in lush greens, accented by rustic kubos/cabanas all around.
We were then led to a big cabana in front that can easily fit 20 persons for intimate parties and functions. The cabana itself was breezy and had charming decor. A perfect venue for our first meal of the day indeed!
What to Eat at Balinsasayaw Tagaytay
Nilasing na Hipon (Php 245.00 – HTD Favorite)
Ever had Okoy? Well this one tastes just like that. Shrimp marinated in beer then fried to a golden crisp just like okoy! Perfectly dip in vinegar to make it the best appetite opener!
Fried Boneless Bangus (Php 395.00)
Eating as a family or barkada? This one’s a good dish to share. A big piece of milkfish, marinated, and fried to a delicious crisp. Masarap, sariwa, mataba, at walang langsa!
Pineapple Rice (Php 255.00 – HTD Favorite)
Speaking of Bangus, you know what goes well with it? Something sweet and savory. Just like the Pineapple Rice at Balinsasayaw Tagaytay Lalaan Uno. Not only was it packed and tasty, serving it in an actual pineapple made the dish totally IG-worthy. Serving size could be bigger. 🙂
Chicken Binakol (Php 395.00 – HTD Favorite)
Love your chicken tinola? Now let’s put an extra delicious twist to it and cook it in coconut! Coco-what? Yes, coconut. Imagine having a savory chicken soup with vegetables mixed in sweet, delicate buko juice and buko meat. The result? A delicious, hearty meal to share around the dining table. Sarap!
Pork BBQ (Php 365.00, 6 pieces)
Now let’s go to the barbecues. First served by Balinsasayaw Tagaytay was the Pork BBQ. I loved how big and meaty each stick was. But they were cut in chunks and made the meat a little hard to chew. Smaller, bite-sized chops would have been best. Flavor was good though!
Chicken BBQ
Oh Inasal, I loved this dish very much! Unlike other restaurants that serve the sweet kind, Balinsasayaw Tagaytay does it Inasal way. Savory with a kick of sourness, just how I like it. It was big, juicy, and very flavorful. So it was a good thing they also served plain rice to balance the taste!
Pork Laing (Php 245.00 – HTD Favorite)
I’ve always enjoyed having laing. Because it’s healthy yet flavorful at the same time. And much is to be raved about with the version of Balinsasayaw Tagaytay. Cooked just right in a creamy mix of coconut milk. The crunchy pork cutlets were perfect savory flavor accents too.
Bangus Sisig (Php 275.00)
And just when we thought everything has been served, the bangus sisig then came. A flavorful plate of milkfish bits with a kick of spice. Good for pulutan too but I personally love it as ulam!
Not to be missed is their turon ala mode for dessert. Just because it has langka inside and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Every dish at Balinsasayaw Tagaytay Lalaan Uno is for sharing (2-3 pax), perfect for group dining and celebrations. And did I mention that they’re listed on Zomato Gold? Dine here and you can avail of 1+1 on food at Balinsasayaw Restaurant Tagaytay Lalaan Uno.
