AMICI’S NEW FOOD LAUNCH: A pizza and pasta workshop
Nothing brings me more joy than making other people happy. So when my foodie friend Harvard of U! Happy Events invited me to join one of their events, I just had to exclaim a big fat YES! And I’m glad I did. It was an afternoon of endless fun as Amici creatively unveiled their newest menu with a pizza and pasta workshop especially for the kids of Tuloy Foundation. The event was in partnership with U! Happy Events. Read on to see what happened that fun, crazy, pizza-filled afternoon.
An Extraordinary ‘Food Blogging’ Day with Amici
I love covering food events. I enjoy discovering new places to eat, different cuisines, and new food trends. But this was not one of those events. True, I knew I was going to be in the company of my foodie friends. But this time around, we were joined by the kids of Tuloy Foundation for a creative pizza and pasta workshop, courtesy of Amici Philippines. Tuloy Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated on giving street children hope for a better life.
Our calltime was strictly at 1:45, so I hurriedly made my way (together with Bettina Bacani) to Amici Ayala Triangle for the event. Fortunately we made it just in time, giving us some moments to settle down, get our IDs and sign-up as official U! Happy volunteers.
Each table in Amici that day had 3-4 kids to be joined by 2 U! Happy Events volunteers. And since I was with Bettina already, we decided to just team up for the day. Joining us were our Tuloy Foundation kids Pam, Ritz, and Arjhane. At first, they were really shy and we could barely hear their answers to some of our intro questions. But we thought that was okay since we literally just met. 🙂
After a few minutes came our first activity: Drawing of One’s dreams and aspirations. Our kids were tasked to draw how they saw themselves when they grow up. Initially, they just wanted to write down their answers but with a little urging and samples, they were on their way to sketching their future selves. Pam saw herself as a teacher, Ritz a flight attendant, while Arjhane saw herself as a nurse. Of course, Bettina and I also tried our hand in drawing. Although I doubt mine was even recognizable, haha.
Amici’s Exclusive Pizza and Pasta Workshop
And then came the main event: Amici’s Exclusive Pizza and Pasta Workshop for the kids of Tuloy Foundation. The workshop was led by Chef Paolo Moran himself, starting with a quick kitchen orientation and cooking guide. Chef Paolo gave us a quick run-through on how each dish was to be prepared emphasis on proper kitchen hygiene. So armed with a trusty apron around our necks, we were ready to rock and roll!
I love cooking but I’ve never made a pizza from scratch. So I’m really happy I came along because now I know the do’s and don’ts of pizza and pasta making. (Tip: Remember to spread everything as evenly as possible for the best taste. From flour on dough, sauce, to toppings).
We were actually the last group to finish but happy to know that all 3 of our kids got to try pizza and pasta making one-by-one. Even Chef Paolo noticed the enthusiasm of our kids that he decided to throw in some extra truffle in Ritz’ pasta dish. And it was just heavenly!
After all was done, we settled back to our table and shared a feast amongst us five. (Yes all 3 pizzas and pastas)! Everything was well-balanced and tasty.
Afterwhich, we exchanged our popsicle stubs for a cup of Caramia’s famous Gelato. Definitely the perfect cap to the savory taste of our Amici favorites.

Want to take part in the movement as well? Each time you order any of Amici’s newest food items (listed below), Php 10.00 will go to Tuloy Foundation.
Balsamic Chicken & Bacon Pizza (Php 495.00)
This was so good! I love both chicken and bacon so this one was a clear winner! Shredded roast chicken, balsamic vinegar, bacon, white alfredo sauce, fresh spinach with fresh tomato slices.
Creamy Truffle Rigatoni (Regular Php 295.00, Grande Php 560.00, Gruppo Php 1,350.00)
Bechamel and cheese sauce mixed with truffle paste and topped with Italian style croutons and bacon. Loved all the textures that came into this plate: soft, crispy, buttery.
Bacon Alfredo (Regular Php 370.00, Grande Php 740.00, Gruppo Php 1,500.00)
Chef Paolo’s version of an Alfredo pasta – creamy white Alfredo sauce tossed in spaghetti, Italian style croutons and topped with delectable bacon strips.
Meatball Arancini (Php 290.00)
Love your meatballs? This one’s a savory combination of fried Italian style beef and pork meatballs stuffed with cheddar cheese and served with a side of pomodoro and béchamel dip. They were big and meaty, and had a little cheese surprise in the middle!
