Bacau Bay Resort: A 3 Day Luxury Experience in Coron
Who’s ready for #RevengeTravel? I don’t know about you but I definitely am. Pandemic numbers are already dwindling down and borders are opening up. I think it’s high time we all step out and start traveling again. My game plan: recharge my wanderlust with a weekend trip to the world’s best island, Palawan. And it couldn’t have been more perfect, all thanks to Bacau Bay Resort Coron. Read on to know what to see, eat, and experience in this Luxury Resort in Busuanga.
Sun and Sea with Bacau Bay Resort Coron
My first taste of Palawan was back in March 2014 with friends when we visited El Nido. Fast forward to 7 years later, I received an invite to fly to Coron. And who can say no to that? A quick weekend trip of Sun and Sea with Bacau Bay.
Luxury Resort in Coron with A Personal Touch
Bacau Bay Resort Coron actually opened pre-pandemic in 2019. Located along the tranquil bay and a mere 5 minute drive from Coron town proper, Bacau Bay Resort is an idyllic place to stay when in Coron. It’s a 1.6 hectare property boasting of 80 luxurious guest rooms, a sprawling garden and jogging path, and a full-serviced spa.
And the best part? This 4-star resort has its own pier marina for boat tours. Coupled with an IG-worthy walkway and Serena Bar along the way. Sunset sessions here we come!
Guest Rooms at Bacau Bay Resort
Karla and I stayed in one of the Deluxe Rooms at Bacau Bay. We loved how the 35 sqm modern-oriental space had everything we needed for a weekend of relaxation. From the LED TV, Alarm Clock with Speakers, Safety Deposit Box, a Mini Refrigerator, down to the Tea Perculator, and Esperesso Machine.
The room has 2 queen-sized beds and can comfortably host 3 adults or 2 adults + 2 kids. The clincher: floor to ceiling windows that open up to a balcony overlooking the bay. It was the perfect chill spot after a long day at the beach!
Tip: If you have older guests in the group, do request for a room on the ground floor. We stayed on the third floor and it was quite a (fun) hike every time. 🙂
The resort also has 15 Premier Suites and a Presidential Suite for the ultimate luxury experience. Each room has a view of the garden, pool, and the bar located in the middle of the property. Talk about a well-planned landscape!
What To Eat in Bacau Bay Resort
Amihan Restaurant
Care for some seafood? Bacau Bay Resort boasts the freshest catch plus other delightful meals at Amihan Restaurant. The restaurant features an open-air terrace with classy cushioned rattan seats surrounded by lavish greens.
It’s located right above the pool and resort facilities and serves all the meals of its guests. Amihan serves a wide array of international cuisine using locally-sourced ingredients.
Buffet Breakfast at Amihan
Amihan is the perfect setting for your morning pick-me-upper. Buffet breakfast is served from 6AM to 10AM. The menu is not as extensive but it’s definitely filling.
Wake up to a salad bar, cereals, pancakes and homemade breads, fresh fruits, cooked viands, and an egg station. I’ve limited my meat intake so their local Lamayo was obvious favorite! Coffee, tea, and juice are free-flowing.
Ala Carte Meals at Amihan
We also had our late lunch on the first day and we were served with their tasty group-sharing meals. We were served first with two kinds of pizza: Four Cheese and Frutti de Mare (seafood). I enjoyed both as the crust was soft yet flavorful and the toppings were generous and fresh.
We also shared on plates of their Aglio Olio (loved the spicy kick) and Bolognese which were both seasoned just right to pair with the strong flavor of the pizzas.

Bolognese Pasta. I usually find this recipe either bland or sour elsewhere. But Amihan’s version was perfect. Subtle sweet and sour and tomato-meat portions were balanced!
The sweet-savory chicken wings and fried lumpia were also delightful compliments to our meal. Thirsty? Their banana shake and Green Smoothies are a must try!
Rmantic Dinners at Amihan
Come dinner time, Amihan Restaurant transforms into a romantic spot to dine and chill. We satiated on a 4 course meal for our dinner on the second day at the terrace. And it was just perfect!

SURF n TURF at Amihan. A must when you’re in Bacau Bay Resort Coron. So good, I’m still salivating over the taste till now!
The mini degustation started off with a creamy bowl of oyster soup. It was so good Karla went for seconds! hehe. It was shortly followed by a fresh plate of salad topped with mango vinaigrette. Then for the crème de la crème of the night: Surf and Turf. A full lobster baked in a generous mound of garlic and cheese, paired with a mouthwatering slice of steak.
We then ended the day with a sweet trio of custard cake, lava cake, and churros. Needless to say, everyone dozed off quickly right after. Well, except for me who went to the gym (which is open 24/7) while the others went on their spa dates. What a lovely way to end our action packed second day exploring the islands.
Pugon Restaurant
There’s actually a second food outlet called Pugon that has a quaint Brick Oven located in the middle of the garden. Sadly, it’s temporarily closed for now. But it’s where we had our welcome dinner on the first day: a tasty, refreshing al fresco luau.
While the dishes were especially made for our group, Bacau Bay Resort General Manager Gilbert Uy re-assures everything can be ordered by request. As long as the ingredients are available. Our palates were delighted over all things fresh. The night started with a hearty bouillabaisse soup. It had fresh fish, squid, and Kibao (Coron’s local clam).
We then salivated over fall-off the bone Baby Back Ribs, grilled vegetables (my favorite), and Shrimp kebabs. The fish lover in me also enjoyed the fresh Samaral fish grilled in aluminum foil very much. SARAP!
We then wrapped up the night with a friendly karaoke session courtesy of our gracious hosts, Natalie and Earl. Thanks guys!
Resort Amenities and 5-Star Hospitality
Getting excited to stay at Bacau Bay Resort Coron? Here are more reasons to book at this eco-friendly resort in Busuanga!
Pool, Gym, Spa, Recreational Facilities at Bacau Bay Resort
SWIMMING POOL. Let’s start with the pool. Bacau Bay has a cozy pool area that features 3 depths: the main pool at 4 feet, a 2 foot deep kiddie pool, and a 7 foot dive pool. Showers are on the side, beach towels are provided, and daybeds are aplenty. Couples can share in the nearby swings surrounding the garden.
GYM. Health Buff? Like I did, I’m sure you’d want to take advantage of Bacau Bay’s Gym Room. It’s opened 24/7, by request at night, and it’s quite complete despite the petite size of the room. It has a full weight rack, gym mats, exercise machines like row, elliptical, and treadmill. And even a TRX installed and water station by the side. During peak seasons when occupancy is high, yoga sessions are held by schedule in the garden as well. Adrenaline junkies alike will also enjoy the stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and badminton.
SPA. Just like the wave of the sea, find solace in Bacau Bay’s full-serviced spa, Alon. Services include hot stone massages, Swedish massages, and Thai massages. We had the combination massage (Php 800.00) before leaving and it was complete bliss!
I love that the service was personalized as our therapists even asked for our preferred pressure points and massage oil scent offhand. The massage was so relaxing I completely dozed off the entire hour! The spa is open daily.
Pier Marina and Serena Bar
By now, you’re probably sold on staying at Bacau Bay Resort Coron. Well, let me tell you, it gets BETTER! Guests at Bacau Bay need not travel to Coron town proper just to go on their island tours. Because the resort has its own pier/marina, a very Instagram worthy one if I must say. I loved spending every second in this part of the resort! So much that I just had to run and catch the beaming sunset on our first day.
A mellow mix of pink, orange, yellow, and purple hues will invite you to the docking bay. Be sure to walk slowly so you can wander in the beauty of the calm water and bakawans (mangroves) that line up the pathway.
Then pick a spot by the netted beds while sipping on a cocktail or two at the Serena Bar. Breathtaking and nostalgic. Hay.. Bacau Bay! Ang ganda ganda mo talaga!
Land and Island Tours at Bacau Bay Resort Coron
Guests can book Coron Land Tour with Bacau Bay. You’ll get to see Mt. Tapyas, San Agustin Parish Church, and Maquinit Hot Spring. We took the Coron Island Tour, of course.
It includes a whole day experience of Twin Lagoons, Baraccuda Lake, Coral Garden, and Kayangan Lake. Lunch is served at Banol Beach. (More on our Coron Island Tour in the next post!)
5-Star Service and Hospitality
Alas, no amount of beauty of a place will tantamount if service is not equally exceptional. And I can 1000% say we experienced both at Bacau Bay Resort Coron. From the moment we stepped foot, their friendly GM Gilbert Uy and his staff welcomed us with warm smiles and hellos. As if they’ve long known us and just about to welcome us back. Cold towels and a refreshing Lemongrass drink were waiting for us while we checked in! The staff also automatically sent our bags to our rooms while we had lunch at Amihan and wandered around the resort in the afternoon.
As we rendezvoused on our second day for our island tours, sir Gilbert and his staff also sent us off at the marina. Complete with tannning pillows, towels, refreshments and snacks, and whatnot (ehem BEER!). Come lunchtime, we feasted on an overloaded Boodle Fight in Banol Beach. Then a sweet surprise again of snacks as we hiked down from Kayangan Lake. As we docked in, we were welcomed with drinks yet again and cold towels. Exceptional, just exceptional!
No wonder everyone felt sad when it was time to leave. It was so hard to say goodbye to such a beautiful place matched with the warmest resort staff. Thank you Sir Gilbert, Marjo, Jonel for the hospitality. We all can’t wait to be back at Bacau Bay! MARAMING SALAMAT PO!

How to Get to Coron Island, Palawan
The main gateway to Coron is Busuanga Airport (USU), more formally known as Francisco B. Reyes Airport. Flight time from Manila is just one hour. Cebu Pacific Air, Philippine Airlines, and Skyjet all operate Manila-Busuanga flights. Local flights from Cebu are already operational as of our travel date. The airport is a quick 30-45 minute drive from Coron Town proper. We rode the van provided by Bacau Bay but public vans are also available for rent. Do take note of the Php 200 Environmental Fee you need to pay by the exit.
Traveling by boat? Coron also has a pier to accommodate tourists from Manila, Puerto Princessa, and El Nido (a 6 hour boat ride).
