Where to Eat in BGC: Vatos Urban Tacos
For the past few years, Korean Food has been having its moment, with Korean Barbecue joints popping up all around the world. And I completely understand why. Korean food, as a cuisine, is very balanced – flavorful yet light, fun and interactive, simple yet well thought of. And lately, a new restaurant has popped up in BGC to even take the Korean food craze to a whole different level. By fusing it with another fun and imaginative cuisine – Mexican food. Korean-Mexican (or Kor-Mex), say what? Yes, you’re definitely reading that right. Come and say hello to Vatos Urban Tacos BGC!
Vatos Urban Tacos BGC: Location and Ambiance
Located at the ground floor of Net Park Building just across The Fort Strip, Vatos Urban Tacos is definitely a restaurant in BGC not to be missed! While most Mexican restaurants are adorned with vibrant decor, Vatos is characterized by a modern industrial vibe that’s really quite mellow and inviting.
Imagine this: dark wood tables, industrial pipes jotting out on the ceiling, and exposed bricks on bare walls. Modern, rugged, yet sleek. Exactly as how the brand is presented internationally.

Now before anything else, we’d like to be clear about one thing. Vatos Urban Tacos, as the name suggests, is primarily a Mexican restaurant creatively infused with awesome Korean ingredients and flavors. So really, this is a new explosion of tastes for every discerning palate!
Mexican Slang for “men” or “dudes”, Vatos Urban Tacos actually sprang from the minds (and bellies) of three Korean-Americans who wanted to offer a new type of dining experience in Korea. Kenny and Sid hail from Southern California, while Juweon planted his roots in Texas. Thus, all three spent the majority of their lives growing up with authentic Mexican food. At the same time, all three of them being of Korean descent, were fed a steady diet of homemade Korean food lovingly prepared by their first generation mothers.
And so the natural birth of Korean-Mexican food ideas like the Kimchi Carnitas Fries, Galbi Tacos, and Spicy Chicken Quesadillas. Vatos Urban Tacos has since garnered praise for providing exciting new tastes using only the freshest ingredients. Vatos currently operates four locations in Seoul and two in Singapore.

Karla and I both love chicken wings. Especially creatively flavored ones. So we both agree that the Honey Tequila Chicken Wings from Vatos Urban Tacos is a sure winner.
Meaty chicken wings coated with a sweet and spicy honey tequila sauce and served with deep-fried battered jalapenos and bleu cheese dipping sauce. Sweet and juicy with a mild kick of both spice and alcohol.

Chicken lovers, here’s another treat from Vatos Urban Tacos BGC: Grilled Chicken Fajita Platter. Grilled chicken thigh and fajita veggies served on a sizzling hot plate along with Mexican rice, pico de gallo, chimichurri, cilantro lime crema, Vatos hot sauce and warm flour tortillas.
