Chill nights are a must have for anyone, especially for anybody living in the busy town of Makati City. Which is why The Plantation Bar & Bistro is the popular choice when my friends and I just want to chill and unwind after a long hectic day.
The Plantation Bar & Bistro gives off major chill vibes right away. Its interiors are bright and breezy. If there were a hammock or a duyan, it would not look out of place at all. It’s definitely a cool place to hang out. The place however, is not as serene or as quiet as it looks. It’s a bar after all, so expect loud music, excited conversations and bursts of laughter everywhere you turn. Be sure to come a little bit earlier if you want to get a table on weekdays, because the place is the go-to place for a lot of people after work.
Serving a mix of Filipino, American and European cuisine, The Plantation Bar & Bistro creates meals best paired with a cool pint of beer. My friends and I ordered a lot of food to make sure we had a fun night.
We started off with Chicken Wings (P290). I think this was the clear winner for the night. The fried chicken wings are coated with buttered Sriracha sauce, which makes the chicken really spicy. I also think that there was a little tabasco mixed in to give a more complex flavor.
Another bar chow that we had was the Salted Egg Spareribs (P195). The pork spare ribs were fried into a buttery sauce of salted egg.
For the mains, there was Grilled Chicken Pesto (P230), which is pasta mixed in basil, garlic, and olive oil. It’s topped with a chunk of grilled chicken.
There was also their famous Baby Back Ribs (P620 for Full Rack), which was so tender. The grilled ribs are smothered in barbecue sauce, not too sweet but just the right mix.
We also had their best selling Lechon Kawali (P230). The pork belly is deep fried, and, true to its promise, the skin is crispy on the outside and the meat is soft and juicy on the inside.
Up next is the Cripsy Pata (P695), which is this huge chunk of deep fried pata. It’s good for sharing and good to eat!
Their Kare-Kare (P250) is also one of their crowd favorites, and we also had it for the night as well. It may look like your classic kare-kare with beef knuckles, tripe, ox tail and vegetables, but it’s their secret peanut sauce and bagoong that makes this dish so popular.
As always, we had the best night in The Plantation Bar & Bistro. The servings are extra generous and the price is reasonable and affordable. Not to mention the food is also delicious. And did I mention it’s open 24 hours? If you’re looking for a place to chill in Makati, this place will make your night or day complete.
