The past few years have put a huge spotlight on sourcing or provenance. Consumers like you and me now ask more questions about a product—what is the story behind this creation? Who are the people behind this? What is the Inspiration? And more and more, products that talk of their provenance—e.g. ethically sourced, fair-trade, single-origin—are disrupting mature industries such as fashion, chocolate, coffee, and even haute couture dining.
And now, the Provenance narrative is disrupting the distilleries with the rise of single-estate spirits.
Ramsbury Estate, a 19,000 acre property sitting in the heart of Kennet Valley is home to one of the world’s popular single-estate spirits. The distillery’s award-winning spirits are made of world-class barley grown right on the Ramsbury Estate.
To celebrate the brand’s launch in the Philippines, the team held the first ever Ramsbury bartending competition. Held at The Brewery at the Palace in Uptown Bonifacio Global City, the competition brought together Manila’s finest bartenders: Ralph Allen Santos of Poblacion’s Nokal, Claude Ansell Delima of Bel-Air’s, The Gilarmi Lounge, Discovery Primea, Ian James Osillo of San Lorenzo’s Mandalay, and Bonifacio Global City’s very on Ruwi Buenaventura of Versus Barcade.
Bartenders were tasked to create two signature cocktails: one using Ramsbury’s Single Estate Gin and the other using Ramsbury’s Single Estate Vodka
At stake were bragging rights and roundtrip tickets to visit the Ramsbury Estate in the United Kingdom!
While the managing team of Ramsbury had their pick and their favorites among the four contestants—guests to the event were given tokens to vote for their favorite Vodka and Gin, respectively, for the evening. It was no easy task! Every drink prepared could have easily been a favorite and each drink was clearly well thought of

Ramsbury Single Estate Gin
This is a classic London dry gin that aims to capture the local landscape in a bottle and apply a modern twist. The spirit is distilled in a copper still using Horatio wheat, grown on estate grounds, before the spirit is distiller again with botanicals including juniper picked locally on Salisbury Plain and quince also exclusive to Ramsbury Estate.
Tasting Notes: Floral tones and crisp quince fades into savory juniper, with a refreshing finish and a touch of spice.
Ramsbury Single Estate Vodka
One of the UKs only single estate English vodkas, Ramsbury Vodka is distilled, blended and bottled in a historic Wiltshire countryside belonging to the renowned Ramsbury Estate. An ancient aquifer influences the locally sourced wheat and water to create an enigmatic and refined edition. Each bottle possesses a distinguished aesthetic and takes effort to note the provenance and variety of the wheat used.
Tasting Notes: An elegant blend that’s silky, light and lusciously creamy. Lavish chocolate notes meld into fresh bursts of aniseed and juicy citrus tang rounds it off.
