Although many of us have gotten into the routines of staying at home and staying socially distant, it’s still normal to miss the rush of booking a plane ticket or exploring a different side to a city you’ve been to before.
In fact, you’ve probably caught yourself daydreaming about a future vacation. That’s also normal, and it can even be helpful. After all, planning for a trip can give you something to look forward to and help you remember that these trying times are temporary.
Now, planning to travel is more than just picking your itinerary. You’ll need to think of what makeup and clothes to bring to look good in all your photos! Here are some skincare essentials you’ll need to look glowing on any vacation, whether it’s a trip to Tagaytay or to Seoul.
Sunscreen
You absolutely can’t forget your sunscreen. This should be something you carry even in your purse so that you can reapply throughout the day. Of course, the right sunscreen should offer adequate SPF, UVA, and UVB protection. It’s no wonder Cosrx’s Aloe Smoothing Cream is on Preview’s list of the best sunscreens to use, as its cooling and calming formula comes at a fairly decent price point.
Cleanser
Cleansing your face isn’t something you should leave to chance, as you might not be able to find the right cleanser on your trip. It’s best to go for something you know will work in order to prevent unsightly breakouts! Snail White Whipp Soap comes highly recommended by Pretty Me’s team as it hydrates and renews your skin with natural ingredients. Plus, soap bars are a much more sustainable option when it comes to traveling: just cut your bar up to however much you need, put it in a reusable tin, and go!
Lip Balm
Have you ever been on a long-haul flight and noticed that your lips are slowly getting drier and drier? A good lip balm is all you need to keep that dryness at bay! It goes without saying that this isn’t the only thing lip balm is good for. If you’re into makeup and planning to wear some bold lip colors throughout your trip, moisturizing your lips first will make application a lot smoother.
Face Oil
Speaking of feeling dry on planes, the constant blast of air-conditioning on board can make your skin feel tight. This is why having a small bottle of face oil comes in handy; you can also use it as part of your skincare travel routine as the last step to seal in all your other products. Thankfully, most face oils already come in small bottles of 10 or 15 mL, so volume shouldn’t be a problem.
Face Mists
Face mists are great for that much-needed boost of hydration in the middle of the day. There’s a good chance you’ve already got a favorite face mist that you reach for, but if not then take this as a sign to go get one. As with cleanser, you can decanter your face mist into a smaller spray bottle for easier travel. However, dermatologist Jaimie Glick maintains that you should be mindful of the ingredients and stay away from anything with alcohol in it so as not to dry out your skin.
Choosing quality products ensures that you’ll have glowing skin even though you may not be bringing your entire 10-step skincare routine with you. Stay tuned to our Lifestyle posts for more guides and how-tos, and let’s hope we’ll all be able to travel sooner rather than later!
