What To Do in Laguna: Redwood Waterpark and Resort
After our quick escape to Tagaytay, let’s head down a little nearer to Manila: Biñan Laguna. Known for its puto (steamed rice cake) and flamboyant history, Biñan is a mere 45-minute drive from the Makati CBD. And so one sunny Sunday afternoon, my foodie friends and I decided to check out Laguna’s newest destination for some major fun under the sun: Redwood Waterpark and Resort. So get your shades and floaters ready, cause you’re up for some splash of endless fun!
Entrance Fee and Groups Packages at Redwood Waterpark
Ready for splash time? Feel the fun instantly as you enter Redwood’s gates with their cute bear mascot (which actually reminded us of Ted!) before going through the fountain archway. Priced at only Php 400.00 per head, kids and kids at heart can enjoy a full-day of fun at Redwood Waterpark and Resort. The resort has a capacity of at least 1,500 people.
Going as a big group? Enjoy a 20% discount if you book for a minimum of 10 persons. That’s just Php 320.00 per head to enjoy all the facilities of this 9-hectare aquapark! You can also checkout Redwood’s special all-inclusive group packages, perfect for corporate or big family getaways (minimum 50 pax). Cabanas are also available for rent, ranging from Php 1,000- Php 1,500 only, depending on the location.
Redwood Waterpark Facilities
Redwood waterpark and resort offers various amenities and facilities to satisfy the crave for excitement and fun of its guests. From three large pools, crave-worthy food outlets, to cozy hotel rooms, Redwood has got everything fun-related covered.
Pool No. 1: Raging River
Just a few minutes after we’ve checked in our room, we instantly noticed a loud ‘roaring’ sound coming from the aquapark. Obviously it came from the Raging River and of course, being the crazy adventurous people that we are, it had to be first on our list! And boy did the water look wild!
Redwood’s Raging River is a 4-feet deep pool, meant not for the faint of heart. Of course you can always take a dip in its ‘lazy’ state but it’s during the rage that you get all that heart-pounding excitement! But don’t worry safety is always priority at Redwood. So be sure to grab a life vest and a floater (single or tandem) before deciding to ride in its wild current. Waves go on every hour for 20 minutes at a time from 10 AM to 6 PM daily.
Pool No. 2: Overflow Pool
Tired from all the crazy fun at Raging River? Take refuge and relax at Redwood Waterpark’s Overflow Pool. It’s about 25-30 meters in length, so there’s much space to do all sorts of stuff – race, play, wade, or float away! In our case, we decided to spice things up and had a “walking contest” from one end of the pool to the other.
Of course, the tallest one (Harvard) won, for very obvious reasons. Good thing Raina was able to redeem the rest of us by winning over him at the mini swim race. (FYI, she can swim like a real-life mermaid guys!) Kids will definitely have fun sliding down to the kiddie pool beside it.
Pool No. 3: Wave Pool
If you missed out on the beach last summer, go take a plunge at Redwood’s Wave Pool. Not sure if you can actually try your hand at surfing but you can definitely feel some major beach vibes here.
Splash away with your donut floatie or ride the waves on the giant octopus and ducky!
Pool No. 4: Inflated Obstacle Course
Ready to get your game on? Head over to Redwood’s H2O Fun Floating Playground. Take fun to a whole new level by conquering their massive inflatable course. Stumbles and slips are permitted, it’s all part of the game 🙂 But otherwise, feel free to go and unleash the inner ninja in you!
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to join in the fun because I had to tend to my ‘dying’ phone. It’s supposed to be waterproof but weirdly enough, it went pitch black. So I had to take a backseat and soak my phone in a small sack of rice (which eventually fixed it) while watching Miguel and Harvard’s gladiator fight.
Redwood Waterpark’s Gaming Arcade, KTV, and Music Bar
I did say Redwood Waterpark and Resort has everything fun-related covered, right? So while the sun’s up during noon, why don’t you play at their own arcade room? How cool is that? Don’t worry this one’s indoor so you can shoot hoops and arrows or do car racing all you want! They have darts, rifle shooting, and billiards as well.
At night, wind down to good music with Redwood’s two entertainment options: KTV and Music Bar. Sing and dance the night away to a wide song selection at Redwood’s KTV Room. It comes quite affordable at only Php 2,500.00, consumable of food and drinks.
Or just take a seat, sip on some drinks, and watch live band performances at Redwood’s outdoor patio.
Where To Eat at Redwood Waterpark and Resort
After all the water fun, it’s finally our favorite activity: Eating! Our group headed to the Beanyan Cafe and Restaurant, which was just beside the hotel. We had their mini boodle fight which is half of their Bilao Surprise (Php 2,500.00). And it was a feast!
Served on a traditional bilao lined with fresh banana leaves, we indulged in a delicious mix of Pinoy favorites. It had my top bets grilled liempo, pork barbecue, stuffed squid, and grilled shrimps. It also had inihaw na tilapia, grilled veggies with a side of salted duck egg, onions, and tomatoes. Not to be missed was Raina’s favorite Dinurado fried rice! We downed the savory meal with a pitcher of sweet Strawberry Juice. We also had fresh watermelon for dessert. Sobrang sulit sa sarap!
The Citadel Hotel
When all is done and you’re tired from a full day of fun at the waterpark, time to kick off those flipflops and rest. Classified as a 4-star property, The Citadel Hotel has a total of 14 rooms that can accommodate upto 50 guests.
Room rates range from as low as Php 3500.00 (standard room for 2) to Php 6800.00 only (family room for 4). Redwood is planning to expand the hotel further by adding 50-100 guests rooms within the property by 2019.
Corporate and Private Rooms are also welcome. Redwood has 4 elegantly-designed function rooms that can seat 30-40 persons each. Or it can also be combined into one big ballroom good for 120-150 persons, with provisions for buffet rooms at the side.
