Kapitolyo Restaurants: Pitmaster’s Smokehouse BBQ Review
Just as we have Maginhawa here in the North, Pasig City also has its famed “foodie heaven” called Kapitolyo. I remember when I was still working in Summit, my officemates and I would frequent the area for lunch meetings or chillout dinners. It was still a budding place then but now, restaurants of varied cuisines have filled up its streets and alleys. And if you love your meat, then you would love dining at Pitmaster’s Smokehouse BBQ!
Restaurant Ambiance
First stop: ambiance. Karla and I came around dinner time and we were welcomed by the cool Southern vibe of the place. Pitmaster’s Smokehouse BBQ boasts of a rustic brick walls, accented by artsy food posters.
Food items were also posted in their cool chalkboard menu. I loved how the lowlights made Pitmaster’s cozy. Although I sort of wished to have come around during day to have better light for shooting.
We were treated to a night of good food while cozy acoustics were sung in the background. Pitmaster’s Smokehouse BBQ also has an al fresco area, should you prefer less noise and fresh air.
Trivia: A pitmaster is someone who operates a barbecue pit. Sometimes a term of respect for someone who is skilled at barbecuing.
Smoked, Meaty Meals at Pitmaster’s Smokehouse BBQ
I love my meat. And Pitmaster’s Smokehouse BBQ really lives up to a pitmaster’s standard. Everything was served hot, tender, and extra tasty! I also enjoyed the fact that they have special sauces to pair with the smoked meats they serve. They really did compliment and accentuate the smoky flavor of each piece of meat.
Oyster Sisig (Php 250.00) – HTD Favorite!
I have to admit, when they hotplate first arrived, I felt uneasy looking at it. It looked like chicken fingers with a deformed omelette on top. But once I had a spoonful of the Oyster Sisig, it instantly became my favorite! The extra creaminess of the omelette was a perfect neutralizer to the slightly gooey texture of the oysters.
Chili Sausage (Php 250.00)
Looking for some spice? Go for Pitmaster’s Chili Sausage! Chunky sausage slices with a tasty, peppery kick. Rice please?
Pulled Pork & Bacon Sisig (P270.00)
One of my favorite Filipino dishes is sisig. I just can’t get enough of its savory, crunchy texture and taste. But imagine revamping the classic recipe, say with pulled pork and bacon. Extra tasty, right? Perfect as is or paired with rice. Definitely crave-worthy!
Sizzling Burger Steak (P370.00)
I enjoy modern twists to classic recipes. And the Sizzling Burger Steak from Pitmaster’s Smokehouse BBQ The surely won’t disappoint.
A thick chunk of angus beef patty mixed their East Capitol BBQ Sauce. The egg and the mushrooms were wonderful additions to this juicy meat too!
Bacon & Mushroom Pizza (P370.00) – HTD Favorite!
Before we get to our star of the night, let’s take a break with something light yet delicious. Pitmaster’s Bacon & Mushroom Pizza actually looks like a panizza. A very tasty one, that is. I thoroughly enjoyed the generous amount of melted cheese, bacon, and mushroom I had with each slice.
Pit Platter (P1500.00) – HTD Favorite!
We came for the barbecue and we definitely saved the best for last! For our main course, we had The Pit Platter (Php 1500.00). A platter good enough for 4, it consists of 5 smoked specialties, 4 sides, and a carafe of iced tea.
Now it might not be the cheapest platter around, but it sure is worth every penny. Everything was so full of flavor, savory, and craveworthy. But my personal favorites were the Black Angus Brisket and the Pitmaster’s Smoked Ribs. Slightly charred and crusty on the outside while tender and juicy inside. As well as the crunchy french beans and Mexican-style corn on the cob.
The platter also had smoked bacon strips, coriander chicken (in honey chili garlic glaze), and pit smoked sausage. You can indulge too on the other sides like the kimchi rice, pepper rice, and mashed potatoes. Perfect for groups or hungry couples! Til the next visit, Pitmaster’s!
