Where to Eat in SM Mall of Asia: Paradise Dynasty S’Maison
Last September, we wrote about our first dining experience at Paradise Dynasty Podium. One word to describe it? HEAVENLY. A sensorial experience brought about by exceptional Chinese flavors set in a finely-decorated atmosphere – a place that’s truly worthy of its name. Fast forward to a year later, we visited their newest branch at Paradise Dynasty S’Maison. Did it still live up to its gustatory reputation of being Xiao Long Bao Heaven? Of course it did. Only this time around, we’ve picked up new favorites along the way. Chī ba!
Lettuce Roll with Homemade Sesame Dip (Php 288.00)
I love starting my meals with two things: Soup and/or Salad. Lucky for me, Paradise Dynasty S’Maison has a unique one that’s a real must try.
With the main ingredient flown all the way from China, the Lettuce Roll with Homemade Sesame Dip is a refreshing take of your usual greens. Fresh and crispy lettuce rolled ala-lumpia. Which you can dip as you please into a light yet flavorful sesame sauce.
Crispy Sweet and Sour Pork (Php 288.00)
It’s always a delight to have a mix of contrasting flavors. And Paradise Dynasty’s version of the sweet and sour pork is no exception.
A tasty combination made even tastier because the meat is crisp yet still juicy-savory. Definitely not skipping rice with this one!
Special Dynasty Xiao Long Bao (8 Flavors, Php 388.00 – HTD Favorite!)
Let’s not kid around anymore. We came to Paradise Dynasty S’Maison for their famed Xiao Long Bao. And what’s not to look forward to? A colorful basket of eight Xiao Long Baos, each bursting with a unique flavor.
Now to the most important part. We’re all about the classics but of course Paradise Dynasty had to push the experience further. How? By introducing 8 varieties, each resembling different flavors palates from all regions of China. And here’s the trick: One must order and taste all 8 to best enjoy the ‘Special Dynasty Xiao Long Bao’ experience.
You start with the classic at the center, then work your way flavor gradually clockwise from the lightest (Green) to the strongest (Red). So that’s Original (white), Ginseng (green), Garlic (brown), Black Truffle (black), Cheese (yellow), Crab Roe (Orange), Foie Gras, and Szechuan (red). My personal favorites were the original, truffle, crab roe, and foie gras. And oh, don’t forget that ginger and black vinegar dipping sauce. Now that’s what I call Xiao Long Bao Heaven for sure!
Pork Dumplings in Hot Chili Vinegrette (Php 168.00 for 6 pcs)
Not to be missed is another dumpling entry of Paradise Dynasty S’Maison: Pork Dumplings in Hot Chili Vinegrette. Big pork dumplings, steamed, then topped with a tasty vinegrette sauce.
I loved how the savory meat balanced well with the soft dumpling wraps then flavor enhanced again by the spicy-tanginess of the vinegrette sauce. A heavenly party in my mouth indeed!
Crystal Prawns in Salted Egg Yolk (Php 588.00 – HTD Favorite!)
The past few years have drawn a tasty trend of anything salted egg flavored – chips, chicken, buns. I honestly love them all because the taste is very distinct. But one particular favorite combines both my love for seafood and salted egg: Salted Shrimps. And my endless craving was finally satisfied with my visit to Paradise Dynasty S’Maison recently.
Fresh and juicy prawns bathing in a luscious Salted Egg Yolk sauce. It was delightful and truthfully, highly addictive. I couldn’t stop at my usual 3 pieces. Sorry!
Spicy Szechuan Crispy Chicken (Php 298.00 – HTD Fave)
Another dish that ranked high up in my must eats at Paradise Dynasty S’Maison is the Spicy Szechuan Crispy Chicken.
Crispy chunks of chicken stir-fried in a bed of dried red chilies, ginger, scallion, and peanuts. Don’t worry though, the chilies are more for aroma and did not bring non-edible spice to the dish. Thumbs up for this dish!
Fried Rice in Yang Zhao Style (Php 238.00)
Being Asians, no meal is complete without having our primary carbs – RICE. And Paradise Dynasty serves it beautifully.
A colorful medley of rice topped with meat, shrimps, shiitake mushrooms, peas, carrots, and eggs. Quite delicious but I can honestly do without it. Plain rice would be a better alternative to balance all the flavors served on the table.
Charcoal Custard Lava Bun (Php 188.00 for 3 pcs – HTD Fave)
Last but definitely not the least is another house favorite, the Charcoal Custard Lava Bun. It’s my first time to try this dessert at Paradise Dynasty S’Maison. And can I just say what a real treat it has been?
Poke a small hole at the top of the charcoal-infused black bun to reveal a hypnotic gold filling of salted egg yolk custard. A perfect blend of creamy, sweet, salty goodness to complete your delightful degustation at Paradise Dynasty.
