The birthplace of everything up and coming—from stunning sartorial elegance to the creativity and diversity offered by the city’s resident—and visiting—chef de cuisines. One can’t help but admire this epitome of a metropolitan city and, whenever possible, bring some part of it home.
Nic’s Savouries, Pastries, and Gifts, brainchild of Rina and Nicole, is a restaurant cum bakeshop that serves award-winning cakes and pastries (remember Choco Tower featured in Inquirer’s Best Desserts Holidays in 2017?) and tasty comfort food. They just opened their second branch in the South complementing their first branch in UP Town Center in Quezon City located at the Ground Floor of the exclusive Park Terraces in Makati and held a soft launch showcasing their crowd favorites. True to their brand, the event was a celebration of food and fashion—celebrated in chic black and white!
The night started off with three options for drinks, the tasty white wine Espanola, fruity and sweet Tequila Strawberry Margarita, and refreshing lemon-rum Mojito.
Drinks for the night were served in lovely glass jars!
From their take-away pantry, guests were gushing about Nic’s Parmesan Wheat Crisps. The crisps are poised to be an alternative to the usual potato chip and pairs absolutely well with the in-house dips (which are also available for sale!): These are Parmesan Pimiento Melt and Seven Herb Cheese (my personal favorite!)
From their chiller, on display—and available for tasting—were all of Nic’s desserts from the fabled Choco Tower to truffles, to cheesecakes. Served warm were childhood favorites like cookies, ensaymada, lemon squares, and brownies! It must have been overwhelming to have been served all these desserts as I walked away not knowing which one I considered my favorite.

Savory dishes were also served towards the middle of the program with gambas, smoked salmon, and various cheese brought out from the kitchen.
My favorite for the night was the creamy truffle pasta. Served out of a parmesan bowl, and prepared fresh for each other. Each serving of pasta had just the right amount of cheese and truffle and mushroom I would easily keep coming back for.
