Affordable Filipino Comfort Food at Mongelica’s Pares and Mami Hub
It’s no secret that Filipinos absolutely adore hearty, warm, and delicious dishes that make them feel like they’re at home. That’s why even some of the Philippines’ simplest meals, such as pares and mami, strike a chord in the hearts of the Filipinos no matter what social class they may be from. One of the best places to get your fix is at Mongelica’s Pares and Mami Hub in City Golf Plaza in Pasig. Here are a few reasons why the restaurant is one of the best in the area:
Quality Filipino Comfort Food for Cheap
When you visit Mongelica’s, you might notice that the menu is shorter than some other restaurants. Although this might come as a shock, it’s actually a good thing because it means that every single thing on the menu, when ordered, is guaranteed to be cooked with love and perfection in mind, making the limited options definitely worth it.
Great value for money
This restaurant is a good way to get a hearty meal without having to break the bank. You’ll be spending around 600 pesos for two people, and that amount goes a long way in a restaurant like this. You won’t only be leaving having eaten delicious food, but also full and content without the heavy guilt of splurging money.
Quick and simple meals that delight!
Without a doubt, Mongelica’s Pares and Mami Hub is a great place both for a long sit-down as well as a quick stop by. You can drive by for some delicious Filipino comfort food that will warm you up from the bottom of your heart, or you can head here after a night of drinks with friends and family for some snacks and meals that’ll help you fill up your empty snacks. Regardless, this restaurant serves up their loved-Filipino food fast and quick for your convenience without sacrificing any bit of quality.
A great place for get-togethers
Mongelica’s is a good place to stop by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. But aside from having a meal, the restaurant also just happens to double as a great place for get-togethers for both family and friends. You can order refreshing, cheap, and iced local beers, drinks as well as snacks or pica-pica to accompany them. Although the delicious pares and mami they serve should be sure to fill you up themselves!
In order to see how awesome Mongelica’s Pares and Mami Hub really is, we decided to try out their entire menu. Out of all of the items in the short menu, here are some choices we loved the most.
1. Mongelica’s Beef Pares (Php 140.00)
The star and meal which has earned itself a titular role in the restaurant name is definitely delicious. The meal specifically consists of saucy beef pares, garlic rice, and a steaming hot bowl of soup- a simple meal, yet one of the most delicious ones at that- a delicious combination of a trio of food that’s sure to take you back home in a single bite.
2. Mais con Yelo (Php 70.00)
While the restaurant specializes in their savory and hearty meals, they didn’t fail to impress with their delicious dessert at all. We had Mais con Yelo, a serving of corn mixed with shaved ice as well as condensed and evaporated milk to create a sweet, cool, and refreshing concoction best enjoyed in the heat, making Mongelica’s a nice place to stop by whether you’re looking for something sweet or savory. Not a fan of corn? You can also opt to try their special halu-halo as well (Php 129.00)
3. Pork Belly Adobo (Php 190.00)
We also had pork belly adobo with egg and garnished rice, a simple yet savory meal that fills you up without breaking the bank. Easily, everyone’s top favorites next to the classic pares and mami, of course!
4. Beef Pares Mami (Php 130.00)
The beef pares mami, beef pares mixed into hot noodle soup with meaty broth, was also an absolute favorite of ours. It was a generous and delicious serving which relaxes the nerves- best eaten fresh, hot, and immediately after it is served.
5. Beef Bulalo (Php 250.00)
Another soup-based meal with vegetables and meat as well as savory bone marrow, which can warm anybody up on a cold day.
6. Pares Fried Rice w/ Siomai (70.00)
Although siomai with rice is a widespread and simple dish, the restaurant still manages to prepare it deliciously, best paired with soy sauce and calamansi.
7. Chicken and Pork Isaw (Php 60.00 for 3 sticks)
We love street food and Mongelica’s version of isaw is the real deal. Sweet, savory, and a whole lot yummy!
- Mongelica’s Classic Sisig
- Mongelica’s Lumpiang Shanghai
- Mongelica’s Fried Pares Rice
- Mongelica’s Pancit Canton
- Siomai
- Isaw
Overall, Mongelica’s Pares and Mami Hub definitely isn’t a super fancy or 5-star restaurant but it’s simple, delicious- something Filipino comfort food should always be. Their selection of food, drinks and desserts makes them a great destination for a snack, a meal, or a night out with your friends between 11 AM to the late hours, up until 12 AM midnight.
