Where to Eat in Katipunan: Lime Hut (Pop Up)
The Katipunan Pop Up is located in Xavierville Corner, Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. It opened another up and coming restaurant that offers contemporary Caribbean cooking called Lime Hut.
Lime Hut = Good Jamaican Eats
This new restaurant is actually inspired by other food stores owned by Poblacion’s Pura Vida proprietor. In Jamaican language, lime means “hanging out” or doing nothing. But in the restaurant, lime also refers to citrus which is a primary ingredient in their menu.
Since there has to be two people in order to “lime”, I visited Lime Hut with good friends of mine. We’ve got to experience the perfect ambiance of the restaurant. It’s one of the best places in Katipunan to lime with your friends.
Appetizers at Lime Hut: Baby Taquitos, Tostadas, Ceviche
After trying their must-try dishes, I can instantly say that my favorites were the Baby Taquitos and Tostadas. They were beautifully covered with purple wraps so for me, the servings really stand out on the table. Each layer is packed with mouth-watering ingredients that explode every time you make a bite.
However, I didn’t quite enjoy their Ceviche because of its lore freshness. Personally, I’d like it to be a little bit more fresh so the flavor will really come out when your taste buds touch on the ingredients. Also, the fish has this gluey texture so I might as well try other fish dishes served in the restaurant.
Mains at Lime Hut: Salmon Crudo, Chorizo ala Cubana, Lechon Asado
For the mains, I recommend that you try the Salmon Crudo and the Chorizo, which reminded me of Arroz a la Cubana. With these meals, you will enjoy a hearty lunch out with colleagues and friends. Also, the Lechon Asado was really good although this specialty tastes better when served hot.
Aside from the inviting ambiance of the restaurant, Lime Hut also offers a whole lot of delightful dishes and drinks for solo diners, couples, and groups of friends. There’s plenty of food to choose from that will boost your appetite.
You can order rice meals t very affordable rates so I best recommend this for the students in Katipunan. The wide range of options will help you decide the perfect meal for the day. And they are presented and garnished in beautiful bowls and pastel plates. Each dish is really worth a try.
The prices of the food are very much affordable, especially for the students. You can enjoy their appetizers such as the Tostados for only 180 pesos, Baby Taquitos for only 220 pesos, rice bowls such as the Salmon Crudo for only 440 pesos, Crumbed Chorizo for only 250 pesos, Boneless Jerk Chicken Thighs for only 220 pesos, and Lechon Asado for only 290 pesos.
For sure, you can resist to take pictures of each serving because of the multiple toppings with different colors. You’ll appreciate all of them with a few posts on your Instagram account. Whether it’s savory or sweet, every ingredient contributes to the freshness and tastiness of everything on the menu. Meat or vegetables, Lime Hut will grant your cravings.
Drinks at Lime Hut: Treehouse Lagoon, Calypso Soul, Smoke in Tree, and the Katipunan Sunrise
For your favorite curated drinks, you can try Treehouse Lagoon, Calypso Soul, Smoke in Tree, and the Katipunan Sunrise. It doesn’t matter if you’ve come here to eat or drink, there’s plenty of options to satisfy your cravings at the most reasonable prices. Come and have a feast fit for a king that won’t hurt your budget.
You can visit Lime Hut in Katipunan Pop Up every Monday thru Saturday from 11 AM until 2 AM. On Sundays, the restaurant is closed. Whether it’s sunrise or sunset, this Caribbean-inspired eating house is the perfect hang out for all types of diners.
