Manila Food Events: Let’s Feast! By The Gourmand Market
2018 has just come to a close and I’m absolutely excited to see what 2019 will bring—except I hope it doesn’t pass by too fast. Can you believe that January is already ending? I can’t help but feel that January just started. Maybe it’s the universe telling me I should stop and smell the flowers and not just allow life to run right past me.
The Gourmand Market Let’s Feast: February 1 to 3
Well, I like food, and what better way to start February the right way than with a feast of the senses. The Gourmand Market is happening again this coming February 1 to 3 at C1 Park, Bonifacio High Street. There will be over 40 concessionaires present and as a teaser of what to expect this week, we were lucky to be invited to attend a special media preview for the this Let’s Feast! By The Gourmand Market
nawwTy’s kitchen
Crowd favorite nawwTy’s kitchen will be present and will be serving their delicious Crab Fat Paella and their Paella Negra.
While both paella were quite delicious, I personally enjoyed the Crab Fat Paella—the dangerous combination of crab fat and fried pork skin just adds an extra dimension of flavor to this timeless paella recipe.
The Moroccan Lady
Aside from nawwTy, another concessionaire I’m excited to see this coming weekend is Legazpi Sunday Market regular, The Moroccan Lady.
They sampled out four dishes during the preview—two savory dishes, The Moroccan Chicken Wrap and Mini Pita Sandwich Chicken Pate, and two sweet dishes, B’stilla and a stick sweet honey pastry dessert—and I loved each one very much, especially the Sweet Sticky Honey Pastry Dessert.
Chuck’s Deli
Chuck’s Deli will also be at the Gourmand Market and will serving their pork sandwiches: Rueben, Faking Duck, and Hamsome Threesome.
Their bestseller, the Rueben, is served with a generous think chunks of meat.
But if you’re looking for a good deal, Chuck’s Deli has a special this weekend where they’re offering a special Buy 2 get 1 promo for their “Faking Duck”
Tori Ichi
Tori Ichi will also be present and will be serving three maki dishes. It’s perfect for those who want to buy something they can easily go around the market with.
They’re going to offer their Burrito Maki filled Steak, Chicken, or Tuna.
La Reve Patisserie by Angeli Nasser
The last concessionare that was present was one dessert concessionaire, La Reve Patisserie by Angeli Nasser.
I’ve never heard of them before this event but it seems like they specialize in chocolate desserts.
They shared with us a moist, chocolately, and decadent Chocolate Lava Cake and offer three tasty cookie flavors: 64% Single-origin Dark Chocolate Cookies, Double Chococlate Cookies with Seasalt and Almond 64% Dark Chocolate Cookies.
The Almond cookies are made with almond flour making it a slightly healthier dessert option to try this weekend—and also another of my favorite dishes from this event.
That pretty much wraps up a part of the dishes that you can hope to expect to see at the market this weekend. Aside from all the tasty food that will be attending the upcoming Ground Market, my personal favorite part in attending this event is that you get a chance to talk and get to know the people behind the dishes.
As well as understand the story behind why a certain dish tastes the way it does, and the passion that fueled them to create their signature dishes—which is something you rarely experience when you sit down and eat at the standard restaurant.
Remember to head over to BGC, the Gourmand Market is happening this weekend, Friday to Sunday from 11am to 10pm. I hope to see you there this weekend! 🙂
