Korean Restaurant in Quezon City: Leann’s Tea House
Located along Mo. Ignacia Street in Quezon City, Leann’s Tea House is a korean barbecue place like no other. Don’t be deceived by the nondescript building nor the Chinese-sounding name. As you’ll soon discover that Leann’s Tea House is perhaps one of the hidden gems in the Tomas Morato area. A family-run business, it offers affordable Korean barbecue without sacrificing both quantity and quality.
Bestsellers at Leann’s Tea House
Before I even talk about all the meaty goodness we consumed that day, can I just share how unique the cooking setup in this restaurant is? Instead of using the highly-flammable butane gas stoves, Leann’s uses a special grill powered by hot stones.
Generally, I find the price points at Leann’s Tea House easy on the pocket. For starters, you can get a large plate of Seafood Pancake for Php 300.00. While Unlimited Samgyeopsal and Woosamgyeop promo will only set you back at Php 449.00 per head. So without further adieu, let’s get rolling with their bestsellers:
Banchan/Appetizers (Complimentary)
As with any other Korean meal, it starts with the banchan or appetizers. Leann’s currently serves 5 kinds to whet your appetite. Choose from their Kimchi, Peanuts, Kong Namul (beansprouts), Potato Salad, and Lettuce Salad. I loved how the Kimchi was only moderately spicy while the lettuce salad has a sweet savory taste to it.
Seafood Pancake (Php 300.00)
Leann’s Seafood Pancake was the biggest winner for most of us. It was big, tasty, and quite filling. Perfect for sharing between 4-5 persons. It was a generous combination of shrimp and vegetables. I only found out later on that it came with a dip. But nonetheless, I enjoyed every bite of it.
Bibimbap (P210.00.00)
A classif favorite, the Bibimbap from Leann’s Tea House is a good choice. The serving was hefty, had loads of mushrooms and veggies. Loved the fact too that the spice was optional on the side. Perfect for groups of mixed spice likings. I just wished there was more meat, though.
Cheese Buldak (P320.00)
You’ve probably had buldak before. But what if I tell you, there’s a way to make it even more delicious through cheese? Complete riot! It was so good, chicken was tender, spice was just right. And that sticky rice was an excellent surprise with each bite. Be careful though, it’s served on a hot plate. Eat quick too as the cheese might get cold and hard though. Well if it does, no worries. Their friendly staff will be more than willing to assist for sure!
Kimchi Bokkeumbap (Kimchi Fried Rice, Php 180.00)
I don’t know why but I can never say no to rice even if I’m eating Korean Barbecue. Personally, it balances out the savory flavor of the meat. Thereby making my dining experience more delightful. And for sure, Leann’s version of Kimchi Fried Rice will surely be a hit. Why? Well, it’s mildly spiced, has cheese, and even a sunny side up egg on top!
LA Galbi (Beef Short Ribs, Php 470.00)
When eating Korean BBQ, it’s no secret that one of the best meats is the Galbi. And no doubt Leann’s LA Galbi was seasoned perfectly. Sadly, the meat was not as tender as it should be. Making it hard to slice or even chew.
Leann’s Tea House Samgyeopsal Promo
Planning to go the whole nine yards? Go for Leann’s unlimited Samgyeopsal (pork belly) promo (Php 349.00/head). OR the Unlimited Samgyeopsal and Woosamgyeop (beef belly) promo (Php 449.00/head). The unli-bbq promo includes unlimited plain rice, lettuce, and banchan. Strictly no sharing and leftovers.
One thing to expect is that their samgyeopsal meats are fresh and without marinades. Hats off too for the excellent quality meats – well cut, fresh, and definitely not tira-tira.
Don’t feel like going unli? You may opt to go ala carte with the Samgyeopsal at Php 240.00 and Woosamgyup at Php 300.00 per order.
Itching for a drink? Down all that savory goodness with either the Iced Tea Oolong Tea (Php 120.00). Or the famously unique Red Ginseng Tea (Php 120.00)
Trivia: Ginseng is one of the best natural plants out there. It’s believed to boost energy, lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels. It can also reduce stress, promote relaxation, treat diabetes, and manage sexual dysfunction in men. Hehe 🙂
