Buongiorno! After spending a week in the land of curry and paneers, I am officially home and I am ready for some serious chomping. And what a way to rev up my appetite than with food that’s always reminded me of home – Italianni’s. Look I am no Italian even by extremes. But I’ve always enjoyed their food because they’re simple yet delicious for so many reasons, sans the very homey interiors. Frito Misto (Appetizer, Php 895.00)
I haven’t been to Italy yet but I can totally feel this is their equivalent of our fishballs and kwek-kweks (fried quail egg). Imagine a basket of fried goodies of calamari, shrimps, zucchini and fish fillet. Generously battered and fried to a delicious golden brown. Now squeeze some zesty lemon and choose between marinara, honey mustard, or green aioili.
Liver Pate on Buttered Bread (Appetizer, Php 395.00)
Ever had something so small yet so delicious that its distinct flavor lingers on to like.. Forever? Well, this is it, amici! A rich and extra tasty liver pate slathered on a crunchy buttered crostini. Topped with creamy feta cheese and Pancetta bits. Ah… molto delizioso!
Romano Chicken Ceasar Salad (Php 595.00 – HTD Fave!)
I have tasted many salads in my life. I eat whenever I feel I need to cut back on carbs a bit. And I think I might have found the perfect combination of healthy and savory in Italianni’s Romano Chicken Caesar Salad. Definitely one of the Italianni’s best kept secret recipes, indeed!
Country Rigatoni Pasta (Php 695.00)
Love your carbs? Go for the fresh flavors of Italianni’s Country Rigatoni Pasta. A plate that’s savory and healthy at the same time. Al dente pasta tossed in with Italian Sausage, Chicken, pancetta, cannellini beans, vegetables and parmesan butter.
Poached Salmon (Php 795.00)
A fresh slice of salmon sitting on a bed of carrots, broccoli, asparagus, and herb potato. I loved how tender and well-seasoned the salmon was. And that sauce under? Simply exquisite. Perfect for the mood of the moment.
Salmon Pesto Linguini (Php 645.00 – HTD Fave!)
Saving the best for last, I present to you Italianni’s Salmon Pesto Linguini. A luscious plateful of pasta mixed in delicious pesto cream topped with salmon chunks, tomatoes, parmesan. I loved how the creaminess of the pesto and parmesan mixed well with the delicate taste of the salmon. It was so good, I raved about it for days to friends and family. Before finally giving in to indulge a day shy of a week after. Simply the best from Italianni’s!
