What better than a chilled beer after a long day at work or sports! Yes, it is true – there is no drink quite as fabulous as a beer. Though there are a string of options available in the alcoholic drink section for all the imbibers out there, nothing matches the deliciousness of the sparkling gold in the mug. Well, do not think these are examples of hyperbole that are baseless. As a matter of fact, there are many ways to prove that the beer is above the rest.
Beer is, by far, the most popular alcoholic drink in the world and when we talk about all kinds of drinks, beer stands tall at the third position in terms of popularity only behind water and tea. In addition to that, beer is also one of the world’s oldest drinks which explains its charismatic taste. For those who want to know a bit about its making, beer is a form of alcoholic-drink that is brewed from cereal grains such as wheat, corn, and malted barley, etc.
Here’s How To Brew Your Beer At Home
Undoubtedly, the beer is something that you always want to have in your house because it can go with any kind of day – whether it is the day of celebration or the day of smooth silence. One of the best ways to ensure that you always have ample beer every day is to brew it yourself. No kidding, you can make your own beer just as you like in the comfort of your home. What’s cheerful to know is that the brewing process is not very difficult and you can get the materials easily from any store around your house. Without going roundabout, let us see how to make a mind-blowing beer at home:
Prepare The Brewing Plant, Equipment, And Materials
- Before anything you are going to need to arrange the equipment and raw materials for the beer which will include:
- Brewing Kettle
- Fermenter + Air Lock
- Funnel (optional)
- Sanitizer
- Auto-Siphon
- Stir Spoon
It is understandable that you may think arranging all of the above is a herculean task. Don’t worry, you can simply get a beer-making kit that will include everything in the right order. After you have gotten the material, you need to sanitize the entire area of brewing and make it ready.
Don’t Wait, Start The Brewing
Fill up half of your brew kettle with water and heat it up. Once it is heated enough, turn the fire a bit low and steep your grains for around 25 minutes. Once you take the grains out, allow their water to drip out of the grain bag into the kettle.
The next step is to remove the kettle from heat and add malt to it. Put it back for a boil when you see the malt is dissolved and you can now add the hops to your liquid solution. Once you have added hops, you need to cool down your sugar water, or wort immediately. You can use refrigeration, a wort chiller, or an ice bath for this purpose.
You Are Ready For Fermentation
First of all, you will sanitize your fermenter and then pour cooled sugar water into it. Add water to double the size of the liquid and splash the wort around the container. This way, the wort will get the oxygen that is important for yeast. Lastly, add yeast and seal out the fermenter to be stored in a cool place away from light. Keep a look at the temperature so as to ensure proper fermentation. Give it a time of two weeks.
Bottle Up
This is the last and the easiest step in the brewing process. First thing again, clean everything that will come in contact with the wort. Add cooled down water to the bottling bucket and transfer the beer into the bottles and cap them with the bottle capper. For carbonation, you should again store the bottle for two weeks at room temperature away from light.
The Etiquettes To Enjoy Beer To The Fullest
After two weeks, you are all set to get your gang to enjoy the beer with you! Since you have made your own beer, you can also use some beer techniques to heighten your drinking experience. Let us check them out:
Pour It Right
For some people, a beer without the foamy collar is not a beer but everybody does not know how to achieve the creamy layer on the top of the liquid. Well, it is easy. All you have to do is splash the beer right into your glass while pouring. Tilt your glass by about 30 degrees and as you are pouring keep straightening the glass so the last past of the serving falls into the center.
Know The Ideal Temperature
Although this is rather subjective, the experience and preferences of people suggest that beer that is chilled at 40 to 42 degrees Fahrenheit tastes incredible. That is when the beer is not ice-cold but it is cold enough to give you a great fizzy feel.
Glasses Make It Great
The kind of glass you use makes a big difference. That does not have to do with taste, but the experience. Clean ceramic-glasses and pewter mugs are ideal for when you are enjoying yourself with a bunch of friends in the home. While for outdoor parties, paper beer cups can be a better option. What is important to note is that unhygienic or beer glasses with spots can spoil the entire beer session, so make sure all your glasses are cleaned properly.
Opening The Beer
What is beer without a ring when it opens! What you need for a great opening experience is the bottle or can of your chilled beer with dribbles of dew over its body. Do not shake or agitate while opening – and then when you open the bottle, you hear what sounds like the trip to wonders.
The above-mentioned ways can add greatness to your beer experience. After you have brewed your beer and have set up a plan, the next important thing you are going to need is company. Get your friends and relish the booze.
