Where to Eat in Quezon City: Hodai Japanese Fusion Cuisine
When it comes to food, it’s no secret that Filipinos love buffets. As buffets offer a variety of options, are quick, and filling. And quite recently, I discovered a ‘new’ kind of buffet dining that satisfied my craving for good Japanese food in Quezon City. Unlike typical buffets we know where food is served on communal platters and hotdish chaffers, Hodai Restaurant offers unlimited Japanese Fusion food Omakase-style. That means serving chef-selected dishes per table, first as a set, then per dish as you please. Tabemashou (Let’s Eat)!
Hodai Restaurant Quezon City: The Good, The Food, and the Yummy
Directly translated in Japanese, Hodai means “all you can”. So if you’re hungry for some tasty Japanese fusion, Ho Dai Restaurant is the place to be. Hodai is located along Examiner St., West Triangle, Quezon City in what used to be an old charming house built in 1965. I really loved the ambiance of the whole place. The 2-storey restaurant is airy, bright, and felt just like you’re home.
Unlimited Japanese Food for as low as Php 299!
What’s better than unlimited food, you say? A delicious but budget-friendly one, of course! And lucky for us always hungry Juans, Hodai Restaurant has an ongoing ‘Thank You Promo’ until May 31, 2019! Diners can avail of Hodai’s Silver Set for only Php 299.00 per person (regular price at Php 499.00). While the Gold Set only costs Php 359.00 per person (regular price at Php 599.00). The best part? There’s no minimum number of diners to avail of the promo. So solo diners, sugod na!
Hodai’s Silver Set (Php 299.00/person)
And I’m quite sure you’d be over the moon to find out what’s included in the Php 299 set – 8 craveworthy Japanese-Korean dishes bundled together to delight your senses. As mentioned, the entire bundle will be served as a complete set at first. Then you can just choose which particular dish(es) for unlimited refills later on. These include the following:
- Maki Roll Tower: What’s a Japanese meal without sushi? Have a rollin’ time at Hodai! While the rolls were not as packed, the ingredients were fresh and were good appetizers.
Kimchi Gyoza: Ever had kimchi in your gyoza? Prepare to whet your appetite with the tangy-savory dumplings from Hodai. I loved that each one was packed with filling and were fried to a crisp!
Kani Salad: Want to take a break from the strong savory flavors on your plate? Balance it with the lightness of Hodai’s Kani Salad.
- Japchae or Korean Rose Cream Pasta: A Korean staple, Hodai Restaurant’s japchae was simple yet very flavorful. Don’t be deceived by the paler than usual color as it packs a tasty fill. On the other hand, the rose cream pasta was a fusion of cream and spice. Sadly, it was too spicy for our liking and was also the least favorite of the group.
White Fish Teriyaki: A tender fillet of white fish glazed with sweet-savory teriyaki sauce.
Tempura: I loved the batter and crunch of this! Each serving comes with two EBI prawns, kani, and vegetable tempura. 5 stars for including this in the set!
Korean Fried Chicken: Undoubtedly one of our favorites, Hodai Restaurant’s Korean Fried Chicken is a winner! I loved the delicious medley of sweet, savory, crunchy. More rice please!
Tonkatsu Teriyaki: Last but not the least, the tasty tonkatsu teriyaki. A tender pork cutlet paired up with a sweet teriyaki sauce. Also a crowd favorite!
Hodai’s Gold Set (Php 349.00/person)
Now if you’re a cheese lover like me, a quick Php 50.00 upgrade lets you have unlimited Spicy Cheese BBQ. Sweet-spicy strips of barbecued pork and cheese served on a hot sizzling plate to melt! YUM!
