Organic Farms Philippines: Gourmet Farms (Silang, Cavite)
I have always dreamt of growing my own farm. Imagine growing your own vegetables and fruits at the comfort of your own backyard? How cool and convenient is that? Unfortunately, I have not been blessed with a green thumb like my dad. So I think I direly need proper training before I try once again. So until then, I’ll just continue advocating organic produce and the farm-to-table movement. Just like what Gourmet Farms, Inc. does. And today, I’d like to share with you my enriching Gourmet Farms Tagaytay Day Tour Experience.
Day Tour at Gourmet Farms, Inc.
Tagaytay has always been a default for my family on quick getaways. It’s quite near (traffic aside), has excellent views, fresh air, and most of all wonderful produce. We would usually drive up for the day or stay overnight to relax, eat at our favorite food spots, and buy cheap meat and vegetables. But last week proved to be a different kind of adventure. As we embarked on a quick ‘fieldtrip’ to Tagaytay to explore the 12 Hectare Organic #GourmetFarms.
The Best Coffee Beans in the Philippines
What started as a coffee trading farm in 1978, Gourmet Farms Tagaytay has evolved into a full-fledged organic farm. Gourmet Farms, Inc. was founded and owned by Mr. Ernest De Leon Escaler who at that time, wanted the best beans from all over the world for Filipinos to try and enjoy. Similarly, he also wanted our own Philippine Blend Coffee to be among the best in the world. Luckily, he was the first one to accomplish both feats.
Today, Gourmet Farms boasts of its wide roster of coffee beans at the farm. Ranging from gourmet blends, to single origin arabicas (my favorite), Philippine specialty coffee, and even civet coffee! Gourmet Farms proudly churns about 150 tons of roasted coffee every month.
It was a gloomy day then but the rain didn’t have anything on us. Because the aromatic #Coffee produced by Gourmet Farms made snuggle weather extra cozy! Their Arabica and Civet Coffee were so good that I didn’t even bother putting in milk or sugar as I normally do.
And if you want brewed coffee on the go, then you can just Drip It! Because Gourmet Farms has finally launched a new kind of brewing for people on the go with their very own Drip Coffee!

Brewed coffee on the go? Just drip it! Drip Coffee now available at Gourmet Farms, Inc. Just Php 28/cup!
All you need to do is pop up bag on a mug, pour hot water and wait for it the delicious coffee blend to drip! Priced at only Php 28.00 per bag/cup!
Gourmet Farms Tagaytay also manufactures teas made from indigenous local herbs.
The Dining Room at Gourmet Farms
One of the top highlights for our Day Tour at Gourmet Farms Tagaytay was our lunch at The Dining Room. It was healthy, fresh, yet sumptuous. Our senses definitely took delight with the wonderful feast prepared for us. For starters, we had the pride and joy of Gourmet Farms Inc. – the Salad Buffet.
While other salad stations offer a maximum of two kinds of greens and maybe a handful of toppings, Gourmet Farms had the whole she-bang. I’m talking about 10 kinds of greens (arugula as my favorite), 20 toppings, and about 10 kinds of dressings. They also offer other salads on the side. The Salad Buffet by Gourmet Farms is available daily for just Php 85.00/100 grams. They offer soup on weekends, free of charge.
Oh, and did I mention that the salad buffet used vegetables that were freshly picked that morning? You can’t get any fresher than that!

Go on, have that savory Porchetta sandwich by Gourmet Farms. Just don’t forget to stuff yourself with the salad buffet too!
For mains, guests at The Dining Room may also order ala carte. That afternoon, we had a savory taste of their porchetta sandwich. It had crunchy porchetta, sauerkraut, radish, and more. It was so huge, four of us shared! You should also have a taste of their extra delightful pasta. A flavorful serving of pasta, mixed in hot on a whole parmesan wheel! They had options to top it with pesto, bolognese, and sun-dried tomatoes.
We also had delicious desserts to finish the feast.. We liked the Blueberry Cheesecake the best as it was just sweetened right and had no extenders.
And that apple pie? Heavenly! Especially with the luscious salted caramel sauce that came with the churros. Thanks Spanky for the tip!
Farm Tour and Wellness Stays at Gourmet Farms
We toured around the farm after our sumptuous lunch. First we saw the lettuce and herb plantations. Then we proceeded to explore the salad/breads/coffee roast production areas. The farm tour is free of charge for guests at The Dining Room.
Finally, our last stop took us to a quieter part of the farm: St. Joseph’s Sanctuary. The Sanctuary at Gourmet Farms is a quiet respite that aims to nurture both the spiritual growth and general wellness of its guests. The half hectare area is made of a beautiful chapel, a 10-room guest house, a conference center and an outdoor pavilion.
It even has a beautiful pond where friendly ducks roam about. Guests can also avail of Solitudo, a 3-day holistic, silent retreat at Gourmet Farms. For more information and bookings, you can visit the Gourmet Farms website. And I will certainly go back for that!
