Rooftop Bar Manila: Encima Roofdeck Restaurant
2018 proved to be a very busy year for both of us. Karla, for one, was barely in Manila as she embarked on continuous travel all year round. While I, got busy with work and food blogging in Manila, with occasional travels on the side. But despite our hectic schedules, one thing remains certain: we will always enjoy the company of each other. And lucky enough, we managed to squeeze in a quick staycation-slash-foodtrip around Poblacion Makati before the year ended. Which proved to be the much-deserved and relaxing! But of course, no staycation goes without food. So alongside our stay in City Garden Makati Hotel, we indulged in some great Tex-Mex eats at Encima Roofdeck Restaurant.
Encima’s Location and Ambiance
As the name suggests, Encima Roofdeck Restaurant is located at the top floor of City Garden Makati Hotel. A perfect spot to eat, drink, and unwind while gazing at the beautiful Makati and Mandaluyong skylines. While the city lights are quite impressive, I do recommend that you arrive early on. So you can catch Manila’s fiery sunset in all its glory, from 23 floors up! Encima also sits perfectly beside the hotel’s pool so guests can also order while chilling by the water.
Tex-Mex Food at Encima Roofdeck Restaurant
I first got introduced to Encima’s Tex-Mex menu when they had a special Taco-All-You-Want promo last July/August. I vividly remember how flavorful the meats were and the wide variety of toppings one can choose from.
Honestly, I wanted to have a second try at it. But since it wasn’t offered, we decided to pick out some of Encima’s Tex-Mex bestsellers.
Jalapeños Croquettas (Php 160.00) – HTD Favorite!
Hot, hot, hot! Crispy fried mashed potatoes with jalapeno, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese; Encima’s Jalapeños Croquettas will surely whet your appetite! Loved the juxtapose of crunch, cheesy, and spicy in each bit! Just a word of caution, these croquettas are not for the faint of heart! Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed these but I definitely needed to chug down on some water afterwards.
Chili Pork Ribs (Php 565.00)
Initially, we were eyeing the Tex-Mex Barbecue Chicken (Php 480.00) from Encima Roofdeck Restaurant. But since it was unavailable that time, we opted for their Chili Pork Ribs instead. The ribs had a sweet-peppery-smoky flavor that was tasty and quite tender. The fried mexican rice and corn were perfect to balance the savor too. Although, portion was a bit small for the price.
Steak Burrito (Php 425.00)
What’s a tex-mex feast without tacos or burritos right? We were craving for meat that night so we went with Encima’s Steak Burrito. A wonderful mix of beans, Mexican rice, veggies, the Burrito was right up filling. We overloaded with the salsa and sauce, of course. Comes with a side of festive nacho chips too!
Chili Chocodilla (Php 120.00) – HTD Favorite!
Remember that mind-blowing Chocolate Tacos we had from Alegria BGC last year? Well, Encima Roofdeck Restaurant has their own spiced-up version!
Grilled dark chocolate inside a tortilla flour with a hint of chili. Wait, what? CHILI? Oh yeah, if you think you’ve tasted all things chocolate, get a load of this. Imagine a soft quesadilla filled with ooey-gooey spiced nutella. Crazy good thought, right?
Cocktails: Mango Daquiri and Pink Lady (Php 99.00)
To celebrate the good ambiance around us, Karla and I couldn’t help but sip on some cocktails for the night. I had the Pink Lady (gin + grenadine) while Karla opted for the classic Mango Daiquiri (rum + vodka).
