Food Delivery Service Metro Manila: Delivery Guy PH
Love eating out but dread Manila traffic? Good news, foodies! A new delivery app is in town! And they’re bound to serve you the best meals right at the comfort of your own home. Say hello to Delivery Guy PH!
Delivery Guy: Multi-Platform Food Delivery Service
Owned by power couple Neil Castillo and Finina Marie Tugade-Castillo, one of Delivery Guy’s top advantages over its existing competitors is that it offers multiple platforms for its customers. Foodies like me have the option to order via 1. App (Available for iOS and Android), 2. Landline (02-488-7676), and 3. Website (www.deliveryguy.ph).
Delivery Guy promises delivery time of 60 minutes or less. As long as it’s within a 3-kilometer radius of the chosen restaurant. You can also conveniently track your order, including what stage of preparation and delivery it is. You can do this via App or by logging on to your Delivery Guy account on their site. There’s a 1 hour cut-off from store hours though for all deliveries. So better have those orders come through early!
Currently, Delivery Guy has 35 partner establishments and is looking to close it at 100 by the end of 2018.
Media Preview Event
And as Delivery Guy launched its operations in The Philippines, a media event was held last June 28 at A Space Philippines, in Makati. As soon as we registered, everyone was asked to choose which ‘Team’ to choose (there were 5). I was craving for Filipino comfort food that night so I happily signed up for Team Illustrado.
It was my first time in the venue and I was impressed by how cozy the place was decorated. The Delivery Guy team had something fun up their sleeves and requested all of us food bloggers to download their App. Honestly, I struggled a little to download it at first because WiFi was a little lagged and there were certain security steps (e.g. email link confirmation) to go through before you can open your account.
So while the App was downloading, I happily went around to take some shots as well as to try some good cocktails from Proudly Promdi.
I asked for the Mestiza and I really enjoyed it. It had a sweet, fruity flavor in it which I thought would be perfect for a day on the beach. 🙂
My Review of the Delivery Guy App
Once installed, I hastily went through the food menu of Ilustrado Restaurant. By this time, I was already 30 minutes behind Marylove and Neil. And since I knew my order was coming all the way from Intramuros, I knew I had to punch in my order quick! So off I went with something delicious and quick to cook. I had the Sisig Kapampangan (Php 195.00) + CPA (Chicken-Pork Adobo at Php 385.00).
Sadly my order incurred the P100 off-zone charge, on top of the 10% delivery charge. For orders below Php 500.00, a Php 75.00 Below Minimum Charge fee shall apply as well. Luckily we all had Php 500.00 discount vouchers that night but it only works for the food order itself. Any extra charges are added on top of the base amount.
After some Q&A’s and program highlights, everyone’s orders finally came in (well most, at least). It must have taken a little over an hour (?) but everyone’s mouths watered with how good the food looked. Sadly, mine did not make it on time since I also had to rush to another event after.
Of course KC from the Delivery Guy team made an exemption and arranged for my order to be delivered straight to my hotel that night. And it did! (Which my family and I ate the next day for breakfast.) Taste-wise, Ilustrado’s food quality is still unparalleled. It was well-seasoned, cooked right, and properly portioned (good for sharing). So A+ still for effort!
Going Beyond Food (Partnership with Project Liwanag)
And if you love helping, Delivery Guy has good news for you too! With each download of their App, Php 5.00 goes to Project Liwanag. It’s a social enterprise providing electricity, education, and livelihood support to Aeta communities in Tarlac. And luckily, each of our downloads that night was magnified and contributed Php 500.00 each to Project Liwanag.
I must say, I applaud the vision behind Delivery Guy PH. It’s fresh, innovative, and well thought of. Considering there are other bigger players already plying the market. And kudos to the team for their commitment to quality and consistent service. By employing full-time messengers vis-a-vis ad hoc messengers.
My only qualm would be the “extra fees” of the service. But nonetheless, I’m still looking forward to what else they have to offer in the near future. Here’s to more great meals at home!
