Ice cream will always be my go-to-dessert – it’s simple yet delightful. And it also comes in a myriad of flavors – all bringing sweet memories of my youth. And now, a new wave of Korean sweets is now taking over northern Metro Manila. Kiss the Tiramisu, the famous Korean luxury dessert cafe, finally opens its second branch in the Philippines. So dessert lovers, it’s time to indulge. See you soon at the newly-opened Kiss The Tiramisu Trinoma branch!
What is Kiss the Tiramisu?
Kiss the Tiramisu is a Seoul-based dessert café that’s gained popularity with their creamy soft-served Tiramisu Ice Cream. Kiss the Tiramisu has definitely transformed a simple yet popular coffee cake into a new sweet masterpiece. They also serve coffee and non-coffee drinks. As well as a few food items such as pasta, pancakes, and even cakes. And last year, the craze has since delighted many sweet-toothed Filipino foodies. With the opening of its first branch at Valero in Makati City.
Kiss the Tiramisu’s fresh, artisanal menu of the dessert cafe is the brainchild of FTAY Group Company. A food company composed of friends from military school who decided to team up and redefine the sweets experience.
Shirley Vy, CEO and President of Foodeology Inc. master franchisee in the Philippines, said that they came up with the idea of recreating familiar desserts into something different. Hence, coining the “foodeology” concept that aimed to enhance dessert dining to a whole new level.
And a whole new level did spell out wonders for the dessert company. In South Korea, it’s actually quite usual to get long queues for a cup in the dessert café’s 14 branches all over. Today, Kiss the Tiramisu is becoming the go-to treat for more people as the brand grows its global franchise across China, Canada, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The luxury café is also set to open in Paris soon!
Bestsellers at Kiss the Tiramisu
Tiramisu Ice Cream – HTD Favorite! (Php 265.00)
Kiss the Tiramisu’s Classic Tiramisu Ice Cream is a fresh take on what tiramisu ice cream is all about. The thick, melts-in-your-mouth smooth layers of soft-served made with pure milk (YES!). Then mixed with generous servings of mascarpone cheese, coffee crumble, butter cookies, and topped with dark chocolate shavings. The fresh ingredients blend into a harmonious symphony of balanced sweetness. With the mascarpone cheese adding a pinch of saltiness to highlight the sweet flavours of the cookies and chocolate. A classic but definitely a goodie!
Memories of the rich and smooth ice cream can also be taken home. Kiss the Tiramisu’s ice creams, served in gold-rimmed acrylic goblets, make excellent souvenirs and can be reused. (Sadly, we were so stuffed that we forgot we could when we dined in at Kiss The Tiramisu Trinoma.)
Midas Touch (Php 295.00)
As its special offering, Kiss the Tiramisu creates a unique flavor in every country it goes to. In the Philippines, its exclusive ice cream, crafted by Chef Kat Diploma, is called the Midas’ Touch. A soft-served ice cream with ube cake and leche flan. It has layers of crushed barquillos, drizzled with caramel sauce, and real, edible 24k gold.
The gold-tipped, highly Instagrammable ice cream is definitely a must-try for its delicious and familiar Filipino taste. I personally loved the blend of the ube cake leche flan, very reminiscent of our local halo-halo.
Matcha Tiramisu Ice Cream – HTD Favorite! (Php 285.00)
Kiss the Tiramisu offers other specialty ice creams to satisfy sweet cravings. One of which is the east-meets-west concoction called Matcha Tiramisu Ice Cream. It’s almost like the Original Tiramisu but matcha sauce is poured instead of coffee, with a dusting of matcha powder. This was actually the biggest winner for me! The matcha’s bitter-ish taste was a good compliment to the sweetness of the ice cream.
Injeolmi Tiramisu Ice Cream (Php 265.00)
Last but not the least, the Injeolmi Tiramisu Ice Cream puts a spotlight on the Korean delicacy called Injeolmi. It’s basically sticky rice cakes dusted with roasted soy bean powder. The flavors could be enhanced more but the Injeolmi (like tikoy) added an awesome-chewy texture to the dessert. Which I truly enjoyed!
Christmas Cakes at Kiss the Tiramisu
For this season, Happier Holidays await at Kiss the Tiramisu. As the dessert café presents its specialty Christmas cakes namely Peach Cheesecake and Oreo Mousse Cake. With all the savory food we’re about to indulge on, both are definitely perfect dessert centerpieces in festive occasions. Craving for something rich and sweet, go for the Oreo Mousse Cake (my fave). Want something fruity and light, Kiss the Tiramisu’s Peach Cheesecake is the perfect meal-ender!
Aside from ice creams and cakes, the cafe is complete with fresh roasted coffees to go with the desserts. I ordered their Matcha Latte and it was awesome. Not overtly sweet nor bitter, and had a smooth and creamy coffee base on it. Otherwise, one can go for coffee/dessert fusions such as the cheese cream latte, kissing coffee, and tiramisu affogato to name a few.
Kiss the Tiramisu definitely hits the spot for sweets lovers. And the indulgent cheese-infused and coffee-infused desserts will make you crave for a glimpse of sweet heaven again. Two branches are already available in the Philippines with the first branch located at the Ground Floor of Three Central in Valero Street, Makati City. While the second branch is located at the Ground Floor of the Mindanao Lobby Entrance of TriNoma Mall.
