I’ve read about Bistro Charlemagne before but it’s in Nuvali and that’s quite far where I live. When I saw that they had opened a new branch at Ayala Feliz, I was eager to give it a try . The mall location was pretty nice and the location of the bistro on the roof terrace with a good garden view. The garden décor makes it feel very chill and homey.
Upon entering Bistro Charlemagne. We were greeted courteously and we were directed to our table. Maebel quickly pointed out the admirable design of the chairs, they were also really comfortable. You could see little expense had been spared when fitting this restaurant out. We visited during the long weekend, it was a holiday so it was a bit slow but Charlemagne mentioned that during weekends, it was over flowing and it could get really packed so come early.

Charlemagne, the owner himself entertained us, he was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and the restaurant. He explained to the group the bistro is a fusion cuisine experience based on local food and foods from Asia and the west, sounds perfect. Our waiter took our drinks orders and then food. Drinks arrived in a short space of time and our entrées followed shortly.
Our entrée was Cheesy Tinapa Rolls; the presentation was perfection with glistening golden rolls of Tinapa. The smoked fish rolls were crisp to the bite and tasted of delicately smoked fish. My friend Maebel exclaimed, “Omg, this is good, after one bite of the TInapa rolls. That immediately made me want to try it and my reaction was the same. The cheesy Tinapa is a delight to eat and a dish I would order again.
Our second entrée was the much loved favorite shrimp popper. The shrimp was juicy and cooked to perfection. This is unanimously our favorite dish amongst all that we tried.
To be honest, I have been working all morning and I had forgotten to eat lunch. It was around 2:30 PM when we got here and I was hungry. I too, have a healthy appetite, we ordered a selection of main courses from the menu for us all to share. The main courses arrived hot with good presentation. Another dish that I really liked was the roast beef, the dish arrived looking as every bit appetizing as we expected. The beef was tender and succulent and had clearly been cooked and basted for a long time.
Next came, the OX Sisig. This was interesting for me as I have never tried Ox Sisig, although I have tasted Ox brain before but still, I had wanted to give this a chance. Obviously, this works well with Rice! Another one of those Filipino comfort food.
Our final main course was the marinated golden 17 soy chicken. This chicken dish has a unique flavor with it being marinated in 17 different spices. I can tell you this golden 17 soy chicken will send your taste buds into overdrive. It works really well with the ginger sauce that it comes with.
I said the roast beef was my favorite, I take that back. All of the food served at Bistro Charlemagne was cooked perfectly by professional chefs with a flair for Asian Fusion cuisine.
Having a sweet tooth always causes a dilemma when it comes to ordering deserts; we opted for the S’mores. The clue is in the description! Delicious light and fluffy s’mores with Graham’s crackers laid upon Ghirardelli chocolate ganache. Whatever you do make sure you dig deep into this dessert for the full experience.
Our final dessert selection was the Pandan Crepe. The crepe is infused with Pandan and has shredded coconut covered in delectable palm sugar. A real treat and really not has heavy has it sounds when rounding off a superb dining experience.
Bistro Charlemagne is a perfect choice for lunch, dinner and a good time with friends who seek to enjoy their food in comfortable surrounding with great staff. The Bistro ambience was perfect for a relaxing time with friends.
