We flew to Bangkok via Philippine Airline and we got to experience their new A330 plane. Our flight was awesome and it did have a lot of perks which you can read about here.
Our flight schedule landed us in Thailand past lunch and with a full day ahead and given the traffic in Bangkok, it’s best if we make our first stop, lunch. I mean, isn’t it better to feed everyone and make sure that no one is Hangry? Glad that Tourism Authority of Thailand Philippines (TAT PH) thought of that.
Mega Bangna mall is half way between the airport and the city. I read that there is a new attraction there, Marvel Experience but we didn’t get to try it. There is also IKEA around the area, so see, this place is a perfect stop before the city or perhaps on your way back to the airport for your flight out.
Of course, it should be proper that our first meal in Bangkok should be an authentic Thai cuisine, thus we opted to try Baan Ahaan.
We had deep toast topped with pork shrimp alongside deep fried sea bass with garlic and pepper. We also had Tom Yam which is a cream rich based soup that I’m sure you’re all going to like as well (same with the price!). This is one of my fave thai dish so I was so happy that they served really good Tom Yam. This is so common that it is included in most Thai cooking school lessons.
Of course, we also had Pad Thai which is a stir-friend rice noodle dish that’s not only common in the streets of Thailand nowadays, but among other Asian countries as well. We also had Chicken Pandan which is a first – it’s a marinated chicken wrap around pandan leaf and it tastes really good.
Their traditional dessert, mango sticky rice is something worth trying because it felt like eating a kakanin in the Philippines. We also had fried Thai noodles with shrimp peanut.
In the end, this was a good comfort food and a good stop half way between the airport and the city. If you want to see more of what they serve, visit their facebook page.
